- 3 copies of your data
- 2 different storage types (e.g., local server + cloud)
- 1 copy offsite (cloud counts, but must be isolated from your primary environment)

We use Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace — isn’t our data backed up already?
Partially. Both platforms have some built-in retention, but Microsoft 365’s recycle bin only retains deleted data for 93 days — after that, it’s gone permanently without third-party backup. How often should we actually test our backups?
